There are those who are scared, and those that ‘love’ bugs…

RA

September 13, 2011

I was asked, not so long ago to draw a picture for a friend (Annas) boyfriend (Robert). His initials are ‘RA’ (the ancient egyptian sun god). She asked for me to do something with the sun… She put it on a mug and gave it him for his birthday.

Scandinavian Animals

August 22, 2011

Its been a while since I posted. Thats because I’ve been pretty busy with a ‘set of Scandinavian animals’ (12 at the moment). These are fun. They are for sale at my Etsy Shop ‘The Tame Baboon Shop’. You can see all there, so its worth a little visit.

Heres an example:

Urban Farming

May 26, 2011

This year I’ve been extra keen to use the greenhouse effect of our balcony to grow things. At one point I was constantly worrying about them, especially the problem of finding enough space. Emma counted well over 100 plants, which, as the weather warmed, were moved out to our allotment. Now we have a more manageable balcony ‘farm’. The farm animals are only in my imagination. The pig is eager to escape because I couldn’t think of a use for a pig other than meat. The cow is not dead, she is just asleep.

We spent this weekend in a little swedish red and white wooden cottage with Johan and Helena (pictured). Its a place full of Johans family history far away from big roads and cities. We really enjoyed being there.

Ghana Street Scene

March 30, 2011

I copied this from one of Emma’s Ghana, West Africa, photos. I love looking though these photos which where not taken digitally. I’d be happy to draw the, all.

Emma in Cape town

Another ‘old one’…I started this drawing in Woodstock, Capetown and ‘finished’ it in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Back Seat

I don’t remember whos car we where in or where we were going.

The Balcony Visitor

March 15, 2011

This is a drawing from our previous apartment. I used to sit on the balcony during the summer. Every now and then I would get a glimpse of a strange blob that would crawl up the side of the building in search of more windy places. The top of high buildings was where it would get the best ‘blow-dry’ effect which got rid of all those stones and twigs it got lodged into it soft foamy body.

To Work

March 12, 2011

During the past few months I’ve been traveling to work in the winter darkness. Now with the days getting longer I get to walk through the sunrise (0630).  I try to take it all in before I get on the bus that takes me to work.
